Spain's plastic limit process
According to Act No. 2015/720 issued by the European Parliament and the European Commission on April 29, 2015, EU member states are required to take measures to restrict the use of plastic bags, such as leving tax or collecting fees, to prohibit the use of free plastic bags within a specified period of time.
As early as December 2, 2016, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA) issued a draft named 《Royal Decree on Reducing the Use of Plastic Bags》, according to which Spain will prohibit sellers from providing free plastic bags to customers from January 1, 2018. But in fact, the draft has entered the stage of citizen participation and opinion collection since its birth, and an updated version of the draft has been introduced since then, and again an opinion collection in July-September 2017. According to the updated version of the draft, if the draft is approved by the government, it will eventually take effect on March 1, 2018.
